Myth Busting Monday – “Essential Oils are Expensive”

Welcome to the first post in a (short) new series called Myth Busting Monday! Here we will discuss common myths and misinformation about Young Living essential oils. In this series, we will talk only about Young Living’s oils. I cannot speak to the oils of other companies, nor would I ever recommend them – the reasons which I have addressed on the FAQ page, and which we may address further later in this series.

For the first post in this series, we will take a look at one of the biggest myths about YL oils, and one that I hear all the time from those not familiar with them: “Essential oils are so expensive!”

First, let’s look at what people think is expensive. Everyone has their own opinions and perspectives on what is “expensive”.  For instance, to me, specialty coffees are expensive. Mainly I think that because I don’t drink coffee. Yes, it’s true. There are some humans that get through the day without it. Stop glaring at me. I mean no offense. Have a cup of coffee and relax.  :)

The truth is, I do like coffee. I just can’t drink it on a regular basis.

So, to me, buying a daily caramel macchiato for roughly $4 at the neighborhood Starbucks is expensive. Now, say I were to buy one for every weekday. About 20 per month. That’s $80 every month.

Now, pick a commonly used Young Living essential oil. How about peppermint? Everyone loves that one. YL’s peppermint oil costs $28.29 retail, and just $21.50 for those who took advantage of the awesome wholesale pricing that YL offers when you buy a starter kit.

That’s under $30 for a 15ml bottle, which has 250-300 drops in it. If you used 2 drops per day, every day, it would last you 5 months. Now, you most likely won’t need it every day, but let’s pretend you do. 5 months of use out of the bottle. In that 5 months, you will have spent $400 on coffee. FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS. Versus TWENTY-EIGHT DOLLARS. Now tell me which is expensive!

And this is true of more than just coffee. How about fast food lunches? Cigarettes?

Young Living essential oils make a little go a long way. And you’re maintaining your health in the process.

I think you’ll agree after reading this, that you can’t afford to NOT be using Young Living essential oils. Because the alternative…well, it’s expensive!
